Free Legal Clinic
Lion Legal Services offers a free legal clinics six times a year in partnership with local libraries. The clinics are on Saturday Mornings, from 9:00 AM to Noon.
Free Legal Clinic Schedule
Unfortunately, after the first free legal clinic in February, 2020, we had to cancel the remaining clinics scheduled throughout the year, due to the CoVid-19 pandemic.
The decision to do so was unavoidable, but regrettable.
We’ll leave this web page up, looking forward to the day when we can once again meet and provide this service.
Individual Counseling
Lawyers from the firm are available to meet one-on-one and provide guidance regarding your individual concerns. The event is open to the public (first-come first-served) and there is absolutely no charge.
Do you need a lawyer? Or can you handle it yourself?
Lion Legal Services is the working Arkansan’s law firm and recognizes that these questions are hard to answer for the average citizen.
“Not every problem calls for a lawyer and not every problem has a legal solution,” according to Virginia Leigh. “When you do need a lawyer, folks need to know what they can reasonably expect to achieve in their specific circumstances.”
Attorneys at the free legal clinic will answer your questions and provide experienced tips and guidance if you prefer to handle the case yourself.
What to bring?
If you have letters or other documents related to the case you want to discuss, be sure to bring them with you. According to Victoria Leigh, “Our attorneys are prepared to offer you the best advice they can, based on the information you provide. Bringing your original documents to the clinic is the best way for you to get the most out of it.”
What are the most common legal issues?
Leigh notes that the most common concerns people bring to these clinics have to do with:
- Divorce & Child-Related Issues
- Misdemeanors
- Sealing Criminal Records
- Debt Collection Defense
- Real Estate
- Estate Law
The free legal clinic will take these questions on and provide written and oral guidance. This guidance may include whether you really need a lawyer, paperwork drafting to solve problems without a lawyer, and whether your problem even can be resolved through the justice system.
No need to register in advance.
Registration is not necessary. Just stop by between 9:00 AM and Noon on the day of the free legal clinic.
Come Early!
Come early because the clinic will close precisely at Noon. Being in line, doesn’t not guarantee your meeting with an attorney. To ensure privacy, we meet individually on a first-come, first served basis.
Public Libraries
The Libraries donate the space and offers free printing for documents drafted for participants.
A Notary will be present.
